A message to three people counts three, Cc and Bcc included. The count covers the whole account and starts again on the first day of each calendar month (UTC). Incoming mail doesn't count, and neither does a send Box refuses. Once Box accepts a message for sending, each recipient counts, even if delivery to them later fails.
To protect delivery for everyone, sending is also limited per hour and per day, the same on every plan. These limits pace sending; they aren't a separate allowance. The API documentation explains them.
All of an account's mailboxes share its storage, and drafts count toward it.
A domain counts toward the limit from when you add it, verified or not, until you delete it. At a mailbox or domain limit, adding another is refused; what you already have keeps working.
Plus is billed monthly through Stripe. Only the account owner, signed in to the Console, can upgrade, cancel or turn renewal back on.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Plus continues until the end of the period you've paid for, and until then you can turn renewal back on. You can cancel whatever your account uses.
When Plus ends, Free's limits apply. If your account uses more than Free allows, nothing is deleted. New mailboxes, domains and sending stay paused until you remove what's over and finish moving to Free in the Console, or upgrade again.
The Terms of Service set out the full terms of plans, billing and cancellation.
Yes. Every mailbox is on a domain you own, and you add the DNS records the Console shows you. Box doesn't offer addresses on a shared domain, or IMAP, POP3 or SMTP access for desktop mail apps.
Yes. Webmail is a complete email client. The REST API and MCP are there when you want them.
Yes. Free and Plus have the same API operations and MCP tools.
By recipient, across the whole account, per calendar month (UTC). The Console warns you as you near
the limit, and GET /v1/usage shows how many are left and when the count starts again.
Yes, at any time, from Subscription in the Console. Your mailboxes and mail stay as they are.
You keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for, then Free's limits apply. Until then you can turn renewal back on.
Nothing is deleted. At a mailbox or domain limit, adding another is refused. If your mail takes up more storage than your plan allows, sending stops and incoming email may be deferred for a while: the sender's mail server holds it and tries again later. Permanently deleting mail, emptying Trash or upgrading makes room. After Plus ends, an account over Free's limits also can't add mailboxes or domains, or send, until you remove what's over and finish moving to Free, or upgrade again.
